Ultra-Conservative Ex- Legislator José Antonio Kast Elected as Chile Next Head of State.
Following a conclusive runoff election, hardline figure José Antonio Kast has won the top job in Chile.

After over 99% of votes tallied, Kast secured 58.17% of the votes, overcoming leftist contender Jeannette Jara, who received 41.83%.
This signifies Kast's third attempt at the presidency, having previously been lost by the incumbent president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 second round.
Agenda Focused On Security and Migration
Noted for his staunch socially conservative views and praise for the period of former leader Augusto Pinochet, Kast's campaign was largely centered on promises to combat rising crime and significantly curb migration.
He frequently blamed migrants, particularly the around 330,000 undocumented individuals in Chile, for security issues. During the election cycle, he issued an stern warning for them to exit before the inauguration or face removal.
His plans featured controversial measures such as building detention centers, high walls, security fences, and strengthening the army presence on the northernmost border.

Governing Lacking a Solid Majority
In spite of his sweeping popular vote win, Kast does not command an clear majority in parliament, not in the Chamber of Deputies or the Senate, even if various right-leaning parties are combined together.
