The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry title that players explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating violence and insanity with the same excitement, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose work have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by having a different backdrop and cast of characters in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant confidence and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a variation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always delving into the nature of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and present our shared unconventional, ambitious style to the television.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
