The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a tabletop RPG that explores the series' post-pandemic setting. This initiative has been announced, with a funding drive planned to begin in April of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.

Initial offerings are set to feature a starter set, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and several deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the United States into chaos. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, turning the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the players come in.

Development on the RPG has been underway for approximately several years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider audience, specifically in North America. Production will start right after the campaign, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules reveals it uses d10s predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and strategic style. Agents use abilities to assemble a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, players select a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This die is then measured against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Awareness

Fights stress placement and situational awareness, mirroring the video games. Factors like cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence success chances. This mechanic seems built to reward coordination and clever tactics over raw numbers.

A Novel Health System

The way health is managed introduces a interesting narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an operative is downed, but is not unconscious.
  2. They may still crawl and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
  3. Any player in this state must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.

An Introductory Adventure

A publicly available introductory rulebook will be released soon. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, players spearhead the search for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings are expected to be detailed closer to the campaign launch.
