Nearly 55,000 households have currently been affected by the rains, with their belongings and dwellings ruined.

Intense precipitation over the recent period have intensified the precarious living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as stated by aid groups.

"Awful" Night Brings Severe Dangers

A official characterized the recent storm as "awful", with downpours so severe that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"These conditions was really horrendous for the residents. The storms were so powerful... And the gales were so strong," said the official.

There is extreme concern that minors residing in temporary structures in wet clothing will fall victim to hypothermia and additional sicknesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Loss

Medical officials have reported that one baby has died from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in roof cave-ins due to the storms.

Additional accounts put a greater number of casualties. Authorities said that several residential buildings had collapsed completely and dozens had been partly destroyed.

  • Nearly 55,000 families harmed by the weather.
  • More than 40 emergency shelters submerged.
  • Numerous individuals required to find new shelter.

Relief Distribution Seen as Not Enough

Groups have increased deliveries of shelter, warm covers and clothes since the ceasefire began, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid getting in.

"Agencies are operating tirelessly to deliver that relief and to allocate it, but the magnitude of the necessities is so vast that we are faced with thousands of people and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship nightly," warned one spokesperson.

Long-Term Challenges and Ceasefire Provisions

The second phase of the agreement involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the withdrawal of troops, and other terms.

Relief organizations have stressed the necessity for "increased and sustained humanitarian assistance to respond to pressing and ongoing requirements."

The conflict was triggered by an offensive in late 2023. Following military operations have resulted in a substantial number of fatalities in the region, based on official reports.
