Disaster Hits as Accidental Blast at Law Enforcement Facility in Kashmir Region Under Indian Control Takes Nine Lives
A catastrophic detonation at a police station in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir has resulted in the loss of nine people and harm to thirty-two additional people, according to police declarations.
The incident happened when a stockpile of confiscated explosives accidentally blew up during handling procedures.

The explosion happened on the evening of Friday at the Nowgam law enforcement facility, where explosive materials confiscated in Faridabad region in the northern territory of Haryana state were being stored temporarily.
Regional police chief announced that the explosives were pending scientific analysis when a "extremely tragic" incident during processing led to their detonation at approximately 11:20 PM local.
Police Announcements
Police authorities verified that this was an "inadvertent blast" and not a terrorist attack. "Alternative theories regarding the cause of this event is unwarranted," highlighted the security director during a media conference.
The law enforcement facility suffered significant harm from the explosion, with adjacent buildings also being impacted by the strong explosion.
Aftermath and Victims
Multiple vehicles were "consumed by fire and transformed into ashen remains, with wreckage spread across the site," according to authority statements.
"The force of the detonation was such that some physical fragments were retrieved from nearby houses, approximately 100-200 metres away the security post," mentioned an police contact.
Most of the fatalities were law enforcement personnel, along with forensic personnel, two crime scene photographers, and a clothing professional who was present with the personnel.
Administration Response
The territory's Administrative Head conveyed condolences and announced that an inquiry had been directed into the catastrophic occurrence.
"I have ordered a investigation to ascertain the cause of the inadvertent detonation. Extremely pained by the loss of precious lives due to exceptionally devastating unintentional explosion at Nowgam law enforcement facility in the Srinagar area.
