Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have âno further comment at this timeâ.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Recent Legal Issues
Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five yearsâ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
